Longing

This painting describes the yearning of the flowers on opposite river banks to be united. Being separated by a river, they cannot get in touch with one another, no matter how hard they try. It also reflects the relationship between enlightened saints and sentient beings, separated by ignorance, and therefore unable to become one.

The day Master began to paint this picture, She had to deal with a lot of troublesome matters. She couldn't complete the painting, and with lost inspiration She could not even continue beyond the rough sketch for 4 or 5 days. Even when She switched to another painting, the situation remained the same. Fortunately, a few weeks later, She was greatly inspired. She completed not only this painting but several other works as well, all in one session. This left Her feeling very contented.
