This
picture uses the Costa Rica Center as its setting. If one views it
carefully, one will find that the plants and trees are inclined in
different directions. Even the main hall is slanted and looks very
unstable. It appears as if everything is struggling and striving to
survive the turmoil of a heavy rain storm.
          Whenever
the Supreme Master Ching Hai does something that benefits all sentient
beings, such as constructing meditation centers or giving lectures,
negative hindrances are often present. There is often rain and wind,
and other kinds of obstacles, which causes trouble inside and out.
When the trees were being planted at the Costa Rica Center, the Supreme
Master Ching Hai was inspired and painted this picture. She seems
to be telling us that even plants have to overcome obstacles and need
to breakthrough crises in order to survive and grow, and that this
is even more so in the case of spiritual practitioners.
