Upon
the completion of this painting, Master asked a few disciples to guess
the title. The winner would be awarded a hundred thousand NT dollars!
Someone guessed "Relaxed and Joyous", and another guessed
"Turning Stone into Gold" and so on. Finally, everybody
decided to save Master some money and asked Her to reveal the secret!
The
title Master had chosen was "The Stone Convention". She
felt that most people are just like those few stones, regarding themselves
as being very important and always holding meaningless meetings, while
wars, disasters and all kinds of problems still exist as before. They
think that they are great, and very busy. The surrounding patches
of red and yellow sand symbolize the anxiety and fury of the weak
and the helpless. In contrast, Master has painted the stones in conference
with sluggish and cold colors. By juxtaposing these two elements,
Master has created a strong contrast of moods in this painting.
