The Great Spiritual Leader Spreading Love around the World

Welcoming the Supreme Master Ching Hai who came to the United States to Commendation, a grand greet-Waikiki Hotel, Honolulu on 25th October, 1993 at 6:30 p.m. This party was held by Mayor Fasi of Honolulu, and Mr. Chen Hung Kwang, Chief Secretary of the World Cultural Communication Association. On behalf of the United States government, Mr. Fasi, Mayor of Honolulu awarded the International Peace Commendation, and the Honorary Citizenship to the Supreme Master Ching Hai from Formosa. He also announced the 25th day of October as the "Day Of The Supreme Master Ching Hai". This is to recognize Her Contribution in promoting the peace of the world, and the exchange of civilian friendship.

After the great floods in the Midwest of the States, believing that others' agony is our agony too, the Supreme Master Ching Hai Initiated a relieving donation for the States of Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Louisiana amounting to a hundred thousand U.S. dollars. The Supreme Master Ching Hai explained that this amount was donated by the fellow practitioners in the States (mainly former Aulac refugees), supplemented by seventy thousand dollars from the fellow practitioners in Formosa. The Supreme Master Ching Hai also expressed that She would donate a million dollars to the United States Government to help relieving the flood disaster, and the veteran, medical research against AIDS and cancer, the leprosy hospital on the Molokai island, and the homeless in Hawaii, etc. The Supreme Master Ching Hai had also organized relief to different countries around the world in the past. Alone in Philippines, She and disciples donated the Pinatubo victims about US$ 2 millions (2,000,000 US$). (just as this news articles to be published, the Supreme Master Ching Hai has arrived in Los Angeles, and is preparing to donate two hundred thousand dollars for the recent fire disaster in Los Angeles.) Her sincere actions in adversities, and Her contribution in promoting the cultural communication between the East and West are the chief causes of Her award and Honorary Citizenship.

World Peace Award - The Cheer of Whole Universe

The "Day Of The Supreme Master Chilng Hai" celebration party, organized by the City of Honolulu and the World Cultural Communication Association.

The award presentation ceremony was held at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu on October 25th evening. More than a thousand guests came to this spectacular event. Fellow disciples from all over the world entertained the guests with thrilling performances rich in national features. Therefore, this grand event was also a cultural and religious feast. The invitation and ceremony were jointly convened by the World Cultural Communication Association. With the City of Honolulu, they have molded a bronze statue of the Supreme Master Ching hai, which will be erected in Honolulu to be revered by people.

Escorted by Mayor Fasi of Honolulu, Master goes on the platform to accept fervent cheers from the crowd.		Mayor Fasi presents a statue of the Supreme Master Ching Hai, which will be displayed permanently in a public place in the City of Honolulu for all to admire.

In the speech of Mayor Fasi of Honolulu during the ceremony, he praised the Supreme Master Ching Hai and Her absolutely selfless objective in saving and benefiting all sentient beings. Spreading seeds for the world's peace everywhere, She would inevitably become a mainstay of international society. Mayor Fasi expressed that the Supreme Master Ching Hai is a real saint. Should people of the world be all like Her, there would definitely be peace on earth, and no more wars and calamities.

The Supreme Master Ching Hai presented Her speech in fluent English. She expressed Her wish to help people who are most in need. She said, although the amount of Her donation was insignificant, it carried the care from people of other nations to the people of the United States. She also asked everyone to strive together for the well-being of the whole humankind, and pray for blessing to the world's peace.

Many of Her disciples had formed groups and came to Honolulu just to be present at the commendation ceremony of the Supreme Master Ching Hai. The ceremony on 25th October included a dinner and unique performance programs. A lion dance team of Honolulu inaugurated the event with a group dance of three gigantic lions, Deafening drums and gongs immediately brought a warm atmosphere to the venue. The exquisite and delicious vegetarian dishes of the dinner also deeply impressed the guests.

The government officials and some senators and representatives of Honolulu were present at the award presentation ceremony on 25th October. At the same time, important politicians of many countries presented their congratulations to the Supreme Master Ching Hai by letters or telegrams. There were two hundred fifty congratulating telegrams from all over the world. Rather special were the five gold medals presented by the Governors of the five States on the Mississippi, namely Missouri, Louisiana, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

After the ceremony, guests and reporters from all over the world all agreed that it was a very rare and unique evening party. There had never been a single person, much less for a Au Lac lady, to own so many honors simultaneously. Nor had they heard of any living person who was honored with a memorial day, and with her personal bronze statue erected in public place to be revered by people from all parts of the world.

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Supreme Master Ching Hai has brought the teachings of Buddha to many people in the world including the Republic of China and the United States; and WHEREAS, Through her benevolent leadership, a relief effort was organized for the victims of eight states affected by the flooding of the Mississippi river; and WHEREAS, donations totaling $100,000 were made to charities including Missouri Governor Greg Johnson, the Ecumenical Ministries of Iowa and the Salvation Army of Illinois; and WHEREAS, Master Ching Hai is currently working on a project to relocate Vietnamese refugees who are in Hong Kong; and WHEREAS, a reception is being held in her honor, hosted by Mr. Hung Kwang Chen, General Secretary of the World Cultural Communication Association and Mayor Frank F.
