A
motorist was driving his motorcycle in Texas and accidentally hit
a young cow and killed it. So the driver went to the farmer who owned
the cow and tried to make it up to him, explaining that it was just
an accident and that he was willing to pay whatever price the cow
was worth. The farmer said, “It’s worth a hundred dollars
now, but in six years’ time, it will be worth eight hundred
dollars. So I want eight hundred dollars, all right?” Then the
motorist wrote a check for eight hundred dollars and gave it to the
farmer, saying, “Here’s eight hundred dollars. I post-dated
the check for six years from now.”
